Poha Recipe: A Simple And Nutritious Breakfast

Poha is a popular Indian breakfast recipe, especially loved in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. It is light, tasty and nutritious and is very easy to make.

Ingredients:
2 cups poha (chivda)
1 medium sized onion (chopped)
1-2 green chillies (chopped)
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp mustard seeds

Poha Recipe Method:

  1. Wash Poha: Put the poha in a sieve and wash it gently with water. Make sure that the poha does not become too wet. Keep it aside for 5-10 minutes so that the poha becomes slightly soft.

2.Heat Oil: Heat 1-2 teaspoons of oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds to it and let it crackle.

3.Add Peanuts: Now add peanuts to it and fry them till they become light brown. This will give a crispy texture to the poha.

4.Add Onion and Green Chillies: Now add chopped onion and green chilies and fry the onion till it becomes light pink.

5.Add Turmeric and Spices: After frying the onion, add turmeric powder and mix well. You can also add a little amount of salt to it so that the onion cooks quickly.

6.Add Poha: Now add washed Poha to this masala and mix it gently so that the Poha does not break. Add salt as per need.

7.Lemon and Coriander: Turn off the gas and add some lemon juice and chopped coriander to the Poha. This enhances the taste even more.

8.Serve: Take out the hot Poha in a plate and garnish it with sev, pomegranate seeds or coconut pieces.

Serving Ideas:
